Location Description
The Tiffin Centre For Conservation is a 120-hectare property that features 11 km of looped trails that meander through a mixture of wetlands, forests, open meadows and ancient lakebeds. The property also includes multiple facilities, ponds, a low ropes course, and a sugar shack that's used for maple syrup production. The great room in the John L. Jose Environmental Learning Centre Building features a soaring wood-beamed ceiling and a two-story stone fireplace. The great room accommodates up to 100 people and opens onto a covered boardwalk. Next to the great room is a small but complete kitchen, as well as the South Classroom, a small gathering space with extensive counters and two sinks.
The Outdoor Classroom is a two-sided wooden building just down the boardwalk from the Jose Building. Sheltered from the elements, it is used as an outdoor meeting spot, breakout room or meal area for a small group. The Picnic Pavilion is a rustic outdoor location with shuttered windows. Its kitchen includes a fridge and a sink with running, potable water (warm months only). There is a wood stove for heat if needed. Picnic tables provide indoor seating for 80 people, and more can be accommodated outside. The Group Campground has lots of open space nestled among an impressive red pine stand. It includes a lockable storage shed, “dry” outhouses with running-water sinks (non-potable), a fire pit, a pavilion, and a stone fireplace.
