Location Description
Situated near the mouth of the St. Clair River, Canatara Park has 3,000' of sandy urban beach on the shores of Lake Huron. The beach area includes a lifeguard station, raised towers and a secondary small beach area hidden behind a peninsula called the Cove. The park has a 15 acre inland lake called Lake Chipican with a depth of 10'. There are 200 acres of park areas including hiking trails, picnic areas, a BMX track, a children's animal farm with log cabin and barnyard, the Kiwanis pavilion and bandshell near the beach, and a large grass area that is home to concerts and festivals. There is a winding paved drive through the park with large paved parking areas near the beach.
