Description
Location Description Fort Erie National Historic Site holds a plethora of history. It consists of the last of 3 forts built by the British in the 1800s. Captured by invading Americans on July 1814, by November 1814 it was destroyed in the worst fight of the War of 1812. The site is situated on beautiful parkland. Present facilities include a modern museum and welcome centre, snack bar, gift shop, and 80-seat theatre. Historical displays include cannons, 19th century functional kitchen, soldiers’ barracks, guard room, officer's quarter with period furnishing, and a powder magazine. Gate at the East Curtain Wall. A few footbridges on site.
